MSNTP/400 - Time Synchronizer SNTP is a protocol used over TCP/IP to synchronize the time of networked-computers together. The time "standard" can be obtained from various providers, such as the National Bureau of Standards, available over the Internet, or from one of the networked-computers. Synchronizing the time clocks of networked computers can be especially important so that database time-stamps are coordinated. MSNTP/400 is an adaptation of MSNTP for the AS/400. It can be run in the Server mode on an AS/400 to provide the time services. Other AS/400s in the network would use MSNTP/400 in the Client mode to set their clocks. PCs clients, running compatible SNTP software, can also use the services of MSNTP/400 to set their clocks too. Installation 1. Download the AS/400 Savefile http://exportventures.com/pub/msntpprd.zipto a personal computer. This file is approximately 108KB. 2. Unzip this file on the personal computer. This will create an AS/400 savefile named MSNTPPRD. 3. Create a temporary library named XTEMP using the AS/400 command: CRTLIB LIB(XTEMP) 4. Create a temporary save file on the AS/400 named MSNTPPRD in the library named XTEMP using the AS/400 command: CRTSAVF FILE(XTEMP/MSNTPPRD) 5. In binary mode, FTP the personal computer's file MSNTPPRD to your AS/400's temporary savefile named MSNTPPRD. 6. Restore the library MSNTP400 from the save file MSNTPPRD using the AS/400 command: RSTLIB SAVLIB(MSNTP400) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(XTEMP/MSNTPPRD) 7. Use the AS/400 command STRPDM to review and complete the setup instructions in the file MSNTP400/USING.
The MSNTP/400 comes with a 15 day free trial period. No special license key is required! See Web Store for pricing and purchasing. |
