This PDF driver is a high performance "electronic" printer that behaves EXACTLY as a locally attached IBM model 3812 AS/400 SCS system printer. Data that is to be "printed" to the output queue is converted to Adobe's Acrobat PDF (Portable Document Format) and written to files. These PDF output files are located in the AS/400's Integrated File System (IFS). They can be used for distribution, included as links in web pages, or used for archiving large amounts of printed output. In addition to supporting the SCS text printer data-stream, PDFWriter/400 also supports "forms-overlay". With this feature, Forms and LOGOs will appear on each PDF page, just like using of pre-printed forms on paper. The form-overlays must be in JPEG format and located in the AS/400's Integrated File System (IFS). For archiving, after collecting around 600MB worth of files (approximately 3GB uncompressed) they can be downloaded to a PC for writing to CD-ROMs.
